PLACES TO VISIT IN MEGHALAYA

Meghalaya is a beautiful hill state in Northeast India surrounded by mesmerizing scenic such as greenery, waterfalls, and mountains. The weather of Meghalaya is so pleasant throughout the year. There are many places to visit in Meghalaya. Some of the main attraction of Meghalaya are:

Shillong the capital of Meghalaya. It is a beautiful city in Meghalaya surrounded by refreshing pine trees. Shillong is often referred to as the "Scotland Of The East". The main reasons why people visit Shillong are for its mesmerizing mountain peaks, amazing Golf Course, zoo, museum and obviously, its weather is the brownie point. There are many places to explore in Shillong such as Elephant Falls, Laitlum Grand Canyon, Wards Lake, Shillong Peak, Don Bosco Museum, etc. 

Cherrapunji is a town, located in the East Khasi Hills of the state Meghalaya. It's scenic waterfalls, greenery, mountains are the major attraction of the place. Cherrapunji is mainly known for its breathtaking seven different waterfalls falling near to each other from different mountains which are called the Seven Sisters Falls. Cherrapunji has been considered as one of the wettest places on Earth. Some of the best places to visit in Cherrapunji are Seven Sisters Falls, Dainthlen Falls, Eco Park, Tangkarang Park, The Maosmai Cave.

Another main attraction of Meghalaya is Mawlynnong, it is a small village in East Khasi Hills. It is often referred to as " God's Own Garden". Mawlynnong was considered as the cleanest village in Asia. You can walk around the corners of the village while enjoying the fresh local foods, and treehouses.

Umiam Lake, an amazing man-made reservoir. It is located at a distance of 15 km North of Shillong. The Lake serves as a major tourist attraction for the state Meghalaya. It is a beautiful place to chill. There are many fun activities like boating, scooting, cycling, etc.

In the West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, there is a place that you must visit which is known as Dawki. The crystal clear Umngot River of Dawki is the main reason to visit the place. There you can do boating while exploring the scenic beauty of the river/place. Dawki is one of the road border crossings between India and Bangladesh.
